I’ll give you a clue – first off, don’t send him an email. He won’t even see it.
How do I know this? Because he told me. He said “If you’d sent an email asking for an interview, I wouldn’t have said no – my assistants would have said no. In fact, I’m asking them to say no to everyone. But…not to you.”
And why not to me?
‘Cos I thought outside the inbox and made a video instead.
So why Andrew Warner?
Well, the man has interviewed over 1000 highly successful entrepreneurs. I didn’t want to talk to him about his entrepreneurial journey – no, I wanted to learn about how doing interviews has benefitted him personally and professionally.
For me, I love doing interviews because I get to connect with awesome people on a real personal level. And building these sorts of relationships has led to new opportunities, new connections and more exposure to my business.
Andrew Warner has experienced the same with his podcast, albeit to a much higher level. And that’s an understatement. Take my podcast, inject with steroids, multiply by a bazillion, point a wand at it and chant “Engorgio!”, give it 16,000 Twitter followers, add a man with a beard, and you have the Mixergy podcast – and a thriving business to boot.
Inspiration behind the video
I saw an amazing presentation where the presenter used a series of VERY quick-moving slides. I knew that Andrew speaks super fast, is very direct and to the point, so I knew I had to make something quick and direct. Hence, the fast moving slides.

Great stuff lady. And I really dig the video outreach approach. I use this and a combination of audio messages too for effect. It’s way more personal isn’t it and it stands out. Congrats. Andrew is a good guy and Mixergy is such an impressive platform he’s built.

Hi Natalie, yes people don’t realise how powerful a non-email message can be! It’s a very very effective approach. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
