How do you deal with tough times?
In this episode, my guest Warren Davies – The Unbreakable Farmer – shares his powerful story of building resilience, overcoming massive challenges and dealing with mental illness.
As a kid, Warren was subjected to years of bullying and not fitting in. When he was 15, his family moved to the country and pursued his father’s dream of becoming a farmer. At the age of 22, he purchased his first farm.
The harsh reality of being a farmer soon became evident: high interest rates, low commodity prices, flood and drought; all having an impact, but most significantly, was the impact on his mental health.
These events all tested his resilience, persistence and determination and had a massive impact on his young family, relationships and finances. It all culminated in the decision to leave the farm – something that had formed a huge part of Warren’s identity for 16 years.
Now as a Keynote speaker, Facilitator, Mental Health advocate, Regional Leader for the Love Me Love You Foundation and Ambassador at Cottage by the Sea, Warren is on a mission to share his message about mental health, why it’s important to ask for help, speak up, and find support in your loved ones and your community.
Warren is also a wonderful example of someone who has taken his unique story and turned it into a powerful message he now shares as a professional speaker. So, if you have a message to share, I encourage you to look up to Warren as an example of what is possible!
In this conversation, Warren shares his story, his lessons learned from the tough times he experienced, and knowing when to reach out for help. We also talk about mental illness, why communication is key to helping you through it, and how to know when your everyday stress is turning into something more serious.
