Is there a place for humour in business presentations?
Absolutely! In this episode, Morry Morgan — serial entrepreneur, 3-time TEDx speaker and co-founder of stand up comedy school, The School of Hard Knock Knocks — and I discuss how using humour and storytelling can help you to develop a deep connection with your audience and deliver a powerful message.
Now, regular listeners will know I like to push myself out of my own comfort zone in order to grow and develop personally, but also to inspire you to do the same. And a few years ago, I attempted stand up comedy at an open mic night in NYC, which was possibly the most terrifying experience of my life.
Apart from creating a podcast about it, I have been determined to learn more standup techniques in order to bring more humour into my keynotes and workshops for The C Method.
In a moment of serendipity, I was researching stand-up classes, found the School of Hard Knock Knocks, signed up, and then had a friend connect me with Morry. Meant to be!
Morry has vast amounts of experience in building businesses, both in Australia and across Asia, and has worked in fields including medical science, management consulting, high tech, and cyber security. He’s done 3 TEDx talks and is an expert in presentation skills, storytelling and engaging audiences across different cultures.
He co-founded the School of hard knock knocks in 2015 with seasoned stand up comic Ben Horowitz, and they now run monthly courses helping budding comedians hone their stand up skills. Click here to learn more about the school and their courses. I’m enrolled for the March 25 course…come join me to learn stand up comedy and experience true fear 😛
