So you’ve been listening to the podcast for a while.
You’ve learned lots of useful tips and techniques to help you become more confident and effective at public speaking, pitching and small talk.
But tell me this –
How much have you actually implemented?
And how often have you read a book, attended a conference, or done a course, only to have all that knowledge SIT THERE without being put into practice?
This is what pitch and performance expert Marcus West experienced when coaching his sales team clients.
As a coach helping people be more effective at pitching and presenting, Marcus saw that not many people would actually IMPLEMENT and SUSTAIN their learnings.
This led him to developing ‘60 Seconds‘ – an app that helps you write, record, share, practice and refine your elevator or sales pitch. Very cool!
In this conversation we talk about pitching – what people do wrong and how they can be more effective. We also talk about what you can learn from TV news reporters, and why you should, in fact, take yourself seriously – and why Australians are particularly bad at doing it.
The art of great conversation is the greatest tool a salesperson has.
Marcus has a background in theatre, and his company Inscription has been scripting, pitching and financing compelling stories for Australian theatre, film and TV for over 18 years.
He uses this background to inform his work in presentation coaching. He works with CEOs and their firms around Australia including KPMG, Deloitte and Westpac, as well as politicians and barristers, to help them present their message with punch.
He is also a talent coach with various TV stations, working with reporters and presenters on their presentation and storytelling skills. See why I got him on the show? 😉
